Subject :     Tenure Track (for non-Korean) Faculty Position in Physics
 
The Department of Physics at Kyungpook National University, Korea, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the junior or senior level in all subfields of Physics, to be appointed on March 1, 2019. Eligible candidates should have a non-Korean nationality, and have a Ph.D. (obtained outside Korea) and postdoctoral research experience. Applicants should possess an outstanding potential to establish an independent research program and a commitment to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in English. The Department has active research groups in high energy physics, nuclear physics, and condensed matter physics. However, outstanding candidates from all subfields of Physics are strongly encouraged to apply. Salary is competitive but non-negotiable and depends on the candidate’s experience. Kyungpook National University has about 1,170 full time faculties, 22,890 undergraduate students and 5,779 graduate students in two campuses: Daegu Campus and Sangju Campus. The Department of Physics is located in Daegu, one of the metropolitan cities in the southeast area of Korea with a population of 2.5 million.

1. Position
This is a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the junior or senior level at the Department of Physics of the College of Natural Sciences. The position is open to all subfields of Physics but is classified as an international faculty position (only open to non-Korean scientists).
 
2. Qualifications
1) Must be a Non-Korean national. An applicant of multiple nationality must renounce his/her Korean nationality before employment contract.
2) Should meet the qualification of full-time faculty under Public Educational Personnel Act of Korea.
3) Should meet the qualification of full-time faculty with Ph.D (under the condition for the Public University of Republic of Korea).
4) Must have obtained a Ph.D. outside Korea.
5) Successful candidates should possess an outstanding potential to establish an independent research program and to mentor graduate students.
6) Successful candidates should have a commitment to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in English.
7) We are seeking candidates who can either open a new research area in the Department or strengthen the current research activities of the Department. We strongly encourage outstanding candidates from all subfields of Physics to apply.
 
3. Salary and Conditions of Service
1) Will be appointed according to related laws, acts and rules of the Kyungpook National University.
2) Employment date will be March 1, 2019.
3) Other benefits as a regular faculty member, which include medical insurance and pension, etc.

3) Copy of degree certificates and transcripts for undergraduate and graduate courses.
4) Publication for the Ph.D. thesis: Please select one publication that can best represent the research related to your Ph.D. thesis. * If not in English, a summary in English is required.
5) Five publications representing career achievement: Please give information of five publications that can best describe the achievement of your research.
6) List of 3 references with contact information (form in Word file). We will contact them directly when needed.

Other documents (copy of Ph.D. thesis, etc.) may be required for the selected candidates. * If not in English, a summary of more than 5 pages in English is required.
 
Apostille-certified documents will be required for the selected candidates.
 
Certificate of criminal record issued by National police agency: includes a criminal history of all domestic areas (Only for successful applicants. A Submission deadline will be notified later.).
